Position: LPN- Dermatology- 24 hours BWH Foxboro

Licensed Practical Nurse – Multispecialty Clinic – Foxborough, MA

Part Time / 24 hours. Free parking. Sign‑on bonus of $3,000 available to eligible non‑MGB employees.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of a Nurse Manager or licensed clinical leader and in collaboration with other team members, the LPN provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the scope of practice. This position requires patient care.

Essential Functions
  • Interview patients about current problems, medications, and allergies and review medical records for pertinent information.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Provide basic patient care or treatments such as dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, performing catheterizations, routine immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and visual acuity tests.
  • Participate in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse.
  • Perform variety of office responsibilities: answer phones and take messages, and perform triage within the scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collect samples such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures.
  • Help patients with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, moving in bed, or standing and walking.
Qualifications Education

Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Licensed Practical Nurse required.

Licenses and Credentials

Licensed Practical Nurse in Massachusetts required.

Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) required.

Experience

Medical experience 0‑1 year preferred.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of patient education: interviewing and listening skills, teaching and engagement techniques, understanding of health‑related conditions and information.
  • Ability to accurately perform vital signs and obtain pertinent health information including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Ability to administer medication; routes of administration may include injections, intravenous and oral medications.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform specific procedures and tests as appropriate to the clinical setting.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, clear and concise manner.
