Transportation Manager (Anticipated Vacancy)

Job DescriptionGOAL:
To provide safe, efficient and economical transportation for the students of the Foxborough Public Schools through the operation of our school bus system.
- Maintains knowledge of all current School Committee Policies, State laws and regulations pertaining to school transportation; maintains all current driver files in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
- Recruits, recommends for hire, trains, and supervises all transportation personnel, and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion, and release.
- Coordinate with school personnel and others responsible for planning special school trips, including outside groups, other schools, senior citizens, youth groups, etc.
- Prepares daily schedules, books and assigns all athletic and extracurricular trips in accordance with seniority requirements as listed in the School Bus Driver Contract.
- Provides suitable licensed school bus drivers to act as substitutes when regular drivers are unable to drive their assigned trips or routes.
- Maintain and provide a driver training program in accordance with RMV and DESE requirements.
- Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings as required.
- Responsible for the preparation of the transportation payroll on a bi‑weekly basis, as well as invoicing of all billable trips.
- Assists in completion of insurance reports and investigates all accidents.
- Takes an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses working with school administration, parents, and drivers.
- Reviews all drivers’ performance and prepares yearly evaluation reports.
- Ride buses periodically to monitor the performance of the transportation system and gain firsthand knowledge of all routes prior to the opening of school and as needed throughout the year.
- Drives school bus routes and/or trips as needed.
- Other duties related to transportation as requested by the School Business Administrator or its designee.

- QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of ten years of supervisory experience relating to the operation of a passenger transportation system preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Must have CDL license with passenger endorsement, or able to obtain license within 60 days.
- Certified as school bus driver instructor or able to become certified within one (1) year of appointment.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software required.
- Ability to learn and utilize existing transportation routing software; experience with Transfinder a plus.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be mature and of good moral character, with the personality and human‑relation skills necessary to work well in a school setting.
- REPORTS TO:
School Business Administrator. - SALARY:
Starting at $65,000, commensurate with education and experience. - Tools and Equipment Used:
Phone console; personal computer, copy machine, calculator, fax machine, two‑way radio, cell phone. - Physical Demands:
