Revenue Accountant – Finance & Accounting
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Revenue Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in a fast‑growing life science consulting organization. This role supports revenue recognition, billing, accounts receivable management, and contract review in compliance with ASC 606. The Revenue Accountant will collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Project Management, and Accounting teams to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Support the application of ASC 606 guidance for consulting and project‑based contracts.
- Review customer contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs) to understand billing terms and revenue recognition requirements.
- Prepare customer invoices and assist in reviewing invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and review 1099 contractor costs to ensure alignment with customer invoicing and project billing requirements.
- Support accounts receivable and cash collection activities, including monitoring aging reports and following up on outstanding balances.
- Assist with revenue and AR reconciliations, variance analysis, and month‑end close activities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve billing, contract, and collection‑related issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue, billing, and AR processes and controls.
- Participate in ad‑hoc accounting projects and system initiatives as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in revenue accounting, invoicing, and accounts receivable.
- Experience in Big 4 or public accounting/audit preferred.
- Basic understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles preferred.
- Experience reviewing contracts or SOWs is a plus.
- Experience with Net Suite is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or life sciences industries.
- CPA or CPA‑track qualification.
The employee is regularly required to use a computer keyboard and mouse; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit, and to lift and carry objects such as books and files weighing up to 25 pounds. The work environment is an indoor office setting with moderate noise levels, a temperate climate, and adequate lighting.
