Sign-On Bonus: $1,000 paid after 90 days of employment.

Job Description

A Mobile Inspector II functions as a member of the Manheim mobile inspections team for a designated region with the primary responsibility of conducting vehicle condition inspections on a client’s lot. They provide accurate and complete documentation of overall vehicle condition within the parameters of a Manheim inspection, build trust with clients, and help them see the value in the Manheim Marketplace by providing quality and timely inspections.

The role requires minimal guidance and supervision, demonstrating independence and problem‑solving skills.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct a thorough vehicle inspection.
  • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer/clients’ lot safely.
  • Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate vehicle information into the inspection system to correct VIN, mileage, and subseries.
  • Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, missing or inoperable items.
  • Inspect and record vehicle exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components.
  • Inspect and record the vehicle interior condition, including seats, dashboard, and options.
  • Perform basic mechanical checks on powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.
  • Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management.
  • Adapt to changes in daily appointments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of each dealer visit.
  • Develop strong knowledge of clients in territory and work with partners to keep them active with Manheim mobile inspections through regular proactive on‑lot engagement.
  • Leverage partner data and insights to maximize volume of units inspected on dealer lots.
  • Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador, providing a premier client experience by interfacing regularly with core clients and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, and other Manheim work groups and auctions.
  • Use  for reporting, lead input and customer performance reviews.
  • Understand NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
  • Work in a continuous improvement/Lean environment and drive a lean culture.
  • Maintain production expectations set by leadership.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license; safe drivers required.
  • Excellent time‑management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities.
  • Highly detail‑oriented, focused, organized, and able to maintain energy and enthusiasm in demanding environments.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
Preferred
  • General knowledge of automotive components;
    Cox will train motivated candidates.
  • Automotive estimating or repair experience.
  • Technical automotive training (ASE, I‑CAR, etc.).
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email, uploads/downloads, and internet‑based applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply secondary data appropriately.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
  • Must meet all physical criteria required to complete vehicle inspection routines.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), walking, standing, and climbing railcar and ship ladders.
  • Must work outdoors year‑round (heat, rain, cold, snow, etc.).
  • Must work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
