Position Overview
We are seeking a Product Manager (“PM”) to join our Workload Automation team in Plano, TX, where you will collaborate closely with the Product Owner (“PO”) and R&D to drive enhancements and new capabilities to a suite of workload automation programs that run the world's largest enterprises. These solutions orchestrate workflows to ensure applications such as payroll gets processed on time, financial institutions start the morning with the correct balance, and so forth.
The PM is a Customer/Market facing role, responsible for identifying and continuously validating addressable market opportunities aligned to Broadcom’s Mainframe software strategy. The PM understands and communicates the voice of the target customer, and combines these to achieve market success through delivering new or improved product or solution offerings. Ultimately, the PM is responsible for the product business case, ensuring long term profitability for the product by providing leadership and guidance across multiple functions.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Executive, Engineering, Marketing and extended Product Team to identify market gaps and improve existing or create new products.
- Make, buy, or partner on plans to fill product requirements in the market.
- Ensure value is continuously available for existing products and bring new products to market.
- Research and segment the market to ensure the appropriate (prioritized) market requirements are gathered and understood.
- Develop the engineering roadmap that includes all prioritized requirements.
- Create the product marketing plan.
- Create the product sales plans.
- Ensure adoption and customer success after the product is sold.
- Understand the mainframe workload automation space, with experience with CA 7, ESP, BMC Control M, IBM Workload Scheduler, and distributed workload scheduling such as Auto Sys, Automic.
- Hold regular meetings with customers and present at conferences, including SHARE and MTE.
- Lead the cross‑functional product team in support of the overall Product Management discipline for a Release.
- Conduct continuous market research and assessment activities to keep the team aligned to market opportunities and react quickly to changing dynamics.
- Build customer insights into all stages of the planning and execution process, ensuring continuous validation of features and stories with customers.
- Collaborate across value streams and business units to coordinate work that extends beyond the control of the Mainframe Workload Automation team.
- Program Portfolio Management:
Own Business Epics and Capabilities to define acceptance criteria. - Shepherd product deliverables through Agile development systems.
- Monitor and report on the progress of deliverables with key stakeholders.
- Own product lifecycle for all features within the release; establish installation, support, upgrade, and migration strategies that balance business goals, technological capabilities, and customer experience.
- Continuously plan: leverage the PO and Senior Engineering team, own the planning process, prepare and present materials critical to the release planning process.
- Supervise PI Planning, balancing backlog items across new stories, refactoring, improvement activities, and technical debt reduction.
- Communicate current business context, milestones, and significant external dependencies.
- Drive the Product Management team in early and continuous validation of features and stories with customers, analysts, and Broadcom’s customer‑facing teams to maximize market value.
- Release and risk management: drive release management with focus on scope, quality, deployment options, release, and market considerations.
- Manage on‑going change management as process, business, and technical scope is adjusted.
- Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of related experience.
- Strong experience in mainframe workload automation and distributed scheduling products.
- Proven ability to conduct market research, develop product roadmaps, and drive product launches.
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing the product lifecycle.
Annual base salary range: $123,800 – $198,000. The role offers discretionary annual bonus, equity grant, and annual equity awards linked to company performance.
