Overview

Our retail client's product development team is seeking an ambitious Jr. Apparel Designer to help shape the future of private label apparel programs. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of trend forecasting and technical execution. Working closely with our Senior Designer and Product Development teams, you will translate high-level fashion concepts into production-ready artwork, sketches, and product classifications that millions of customers will love.

This is an incredible opportunity for a designer who thrives in a fast-paced retail ecosystem and wants to build their portfolio with an industry leader.

Responsibilities
  • Continually research global color, runway, and retail trends; utilize specialized trend and color services to build concept boards, sketch libraries, and seasonal color palettes.
  • Develop and execute technically accurate original apparel artwork and hangtag labels, partnering seamlessly with Product Development from initial concept meetings straight through the prototype approval process.
  • Consistently shop competitive brands and all retail levels (including our own stores) to maintain an expert pulse on market value, color directions, and clothing construction.
  • Travel both domestically and overseas to retail shop, attend premier print and fabric shows, and purchase original artwork or development samples within R&D budget parameters.
  • Select, delegate to, and manage in‑house freelance design services for artwork development, ensuring strict production deadlines are consistently met.
  • Manage the shifting status of multiple concurrent design projects, proactively anticipating roadblocks and driving timely, creative solutions.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or equivalent hands‑on industry experience.
  • 1+ years of dedicated professional experience in apparel product development with a heavy emphasis on clothing design.
  • Strong PC and digital design skills, with proven fluency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with specialized textile/design software (e.g., U4ia, Prima Vision, iGrafix) and Microsoft Office/Lotus Notes is highly desired.
Benefits
  • Medical, prescription, dental, vision, AD&D, and life insurance offerings.
  • Short‑term disability.
  • 401(k) plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
