Job Description

Lead Industrial Designer to join the Industrial Design team in Framingham, MA, focused on Bose’s automotive business. Will translate brand, technology, and user experience into design vision for OEM partners, overseeing projects from early concept to production alignment.

• Lead industrial design efforts for automotive programs, including concept car builds, from early concept framing through production alignment.
• Contribute to early opportunity definition—frame problems, identify white space, influence product direction upstream.
• Shape and communicate compelling design visions for in‑car audio experiences that connect brand and product.
• Collaborate closely with OEM partners, representing Bose design with clarity, confidence, and conviction.
• Create and deliver high‑quality presentations, narratives, and visualizations that communicate design intent and strategy.
• Translate complex technical inputs (acoustics, engineering) into clear design directions for concept cars and OEM concepts.
• Drive alignment across internal teams and external stakeholders navigating trade‑offs and maintaining momentum.
• Guide design intent across development phases, ensuring it remains intact while adapting to constraints.
• Travel as needed to partner with OEM studios, internal teams, and key project touchpoints.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of professional industrial design experience.
• Experience working within or alongside the automotive industry and understanding automotive design processes, constraints, and collaboration models.
• Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels; able to zoom out to define vision and zoom in to guide implementation.
• Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas to internal teams and external partners.
• Proficiency in standard design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Key Shot, CAD platforms such as NX, Solid Works, or Rhino).
• Portfolio demonstrating strong design thinking, clear narratives, and examples of shipped or realized work.

• Curious, culturally aware, and inspired by the evolving automotive landscape.
• Demonstrate examples of professional experience or interest in the automotive industry.
• Strong point of view grounded in real‑world experience, able to influence without authority.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and creating clarity for teams and partners.
• Effective and engaging communicator in both small and large group settings.
• Balances strategic thinking with practical understanding of development and production realities.

Hybrid position based in Framingham, MA. Expect to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on other weekdays.

Hiring range for Framingham: $133,700–$183,800. Additional compensation includes bonus programs, 401(k) plan, comprehensive health and welfare benefits, and an employee discount. Compensation is tailored to skills, experience, education, and location.
