Lead Industrial Designer

Job Description Overview

We are seeking a Senior or Lead Industrial Designer to join our Industrial Design team in Framingham, MA. The role involves defining and delivering the next generation of Bose products, shaping form, function, and consumer experience from early concept through mass production.

• Lead industrial design development from concept exploration through manufacturing.
• Contribute to early concept exploration and problem framing as needed.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, marketing, UX/UI, CMF, and user research to deliver cohesive product experiences.
• Drive alignment across cross‑functional teams and clearly rationalize tradeoffs.
• Balance design intent with technical feasibility, cost, performance, and schedule constraints throughout development.
• Uphold design intent across all development phases, ensuring a high level of craft, refinement, and design quality.
• Create and communicate design intent through presentations, renderings, CAD, and prototypes.
• Deliver products through end‑to‑end development, including detailed design and production.
• Lead and manage industrial design deliverables for multiple projects at once, at varying phases of development.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of professional industrial design experience.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Key Shot, and Siemens NX, Solid Works, and/or Rhino.
• Experience designing consumer electronics with premium build, tight tolerances, and high volume manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Strong design sensitivity with a high level of technical proficiency and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Able to prototype quickly (from low‑fi to functional) and iterate based on cross‑functional feedback and testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective and positive collaborator across disciplines and functions.
• Comfortable making trade‑offs and decisions across complex development cycles and working in ambiguity.
• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional design craft, strong problem framing, and examples of shipped products.

This is a hybrid position based in Framingham, MA. We expect team members to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on other weekdays.

Compensation range: $126,400 – $173,800, plus bonus programs, comprehensive health and welfare benefits, a 401(k) plan, exclusive perks to support wellbeing, and a generous employee discount.
