Role
Bose is seeking a Lead Industrial Designer to join the Industrial Design team in Framingham, MA, focused on the Automotive business. The role shapes how Bose shows up in the automotive space by translating brand, technology, and user experience into design visions for OEM partners.
The role operates at the intersection of design, storytelling, and collaboration, working with internal teams and external partners to define experiences within complex automotive environments. It is focused on setting direction, framing opportunities, and guiding design intent from early vision through production.
Responsibilities- Lead industrial design efforts for automotive programs, including concept car builds, from early concept framing through production alignment.
- Contribute to early opportunity definition by framing problems, identifying white space, and influencing product direction upstream.
- Shape and communicate design visions for in-car audio experiences that connect brand and product in a cohesive way.
- Collaborate with OEM partners and represent Bose design with clarity, confidence, and conviction.
- Create presentations, narratives, and visualizations that communicate design intent and strategy.
- Translate technical inputs from acoustics and engineering into design directions for concept cars and OEM design concepts.
- Drive alignment across engineering, product management, marketing, and external stakeholders while navigating tradeoffs.
- Guide design intent across development phases while adapting to constraints and evolving inputs.
- Travel as needed to partner with OEM studios, internal teams, and key project touchpoints.
- Bachelor7s or Master7s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of professional industrial design experience.
- Experience working within or alongside the automotive industry, including automotive design processes, constraints, and collaboration models.
- Ability to operate at strategic and executional levels, defining vision and guiding implementation.
- Strong storytelling and communication skills for internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency in standard design tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Key Shot, and major CAD platforms such as NX, Solid Works, or Rhino.
- Portfolio demonstrating design thinking, clear narratives, and shipped or realized work.
- Curious, culturally aware, and inspired by the evolving automotive landscape.
- Can demonstrate professional experience or interest in the automotive industry.
- Brings a strong point of view grounded in real-world experience and can influence without authority.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping create clarity for teams and partners.
- Effective and engaging communicator in small and large group settings.
- Balances strategic thinking with practical understanding of development and production realities.
This is a hybrid position based in Framingham, MA. Team members are expected to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on other weekdays.
CompensationThe hiring range for this position in the primary work location of Framingham, Massachusetts is $133,700-$183,800. The hiring range for other Bose work locations may vary.
