Senior Packaging Designer

Location:

Framingham, Massachusetts. Job Type: Contract. Compensation Range: $45 - 50 per hour. A global off-price retail leader is seeking a Senior Packaging Designer to serve as the creative force driving trend-forward brand packaging and identity across diverse home categories. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design process from initial concept to press and shelf, collaborating cross-functionally to elevate private brands across global retail divisions.

• Brand Packaging Leadership:
  Direct the creation of innovative, trend-right packaging solutions (boxes, hangtags, structural labels, and branding systems) across various home categories.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  Partner closely with Product Development, Merchandising, Trend, and Buying teams to align packaging with customer lifestyle needs and influence key design decisions.
• Vendor & Production Oversight:
  Manage supplier relationships and oversee the vendor approval process to ensure print, color, and structural tolerances meet strict quality standards and Time & Action (T&A) deadlines.
• Team Direction & Workflow:
  Prioritize and direct the daily output of designers, freelancers, contractors, and interns, providing clear creative guidance and content oversight.
• Photography & Styling Direction:
  Oversee package photography from start to finish - directing styling, managing photo quality, and ensuring asset delivery meets production schedules.
• Quality & Compliance:
  Follow through on full pre-press execution, collaborating with legal, regulatory, and trademark teams to ensure brand name compliance and accurate proofing.

• 5+ years of professional packaging design experience, ideally within retail, home goods, or consumer products.
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Deep understanding of print production processes, color management, structural packaging, and pre-press approvals.
• Proven ability to manage external vendors, direct photo shoots, and lead cross-functional design initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills with a track record of meeting tight production timelines and managing multiple creative projects simultaneously.
