Position Summary
Mass Bay Community College seeks qualified part‑time instructors for the current and future semesters to teach courses in Law, Criminal Justice, Government, Paralegal Studies, and related fields. Our adjunct instructors hold a master’s degree in a related discipline or a Juris Doctorate and have obtained appropriate certification and/or licensure where applicable. The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, serve a diverse student population, and is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration, and professional development.
Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner‑centered environment, communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administrators, respond within 24 hours, manage grading, provide substantial feedback, and submit clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.
- Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements and student learning outcomes to meet graduation competencies.
- Use appropriate assessment methods consistently to measure student understanding.
- Maintain excellent communication with students, department, and division staff throughout the semester.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
- Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports by required due dates.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Must have a master’s degree in a related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Community college experience strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.
- Proof of full COVID‑19 vaccination status (unless a reasonable accommodation is provided).
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of affirmative action.
- Experience working in a community college or similar environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need.
Salary: $1,397 – $1,585 per credit.
Position Type: DCE‑Adjunct.
