Located in Greater Boston, Mass Bay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conducive to engaging students in the learning process.

The faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period of time. The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Mass Bay Community College seeks a qualified part-time Adjunct Faculty beginning in spring 2025 and for future semesters to teach courses in Healthcare Delivery Systems, Pharmacology, Soft Skills for Medical Professionals, Electronic Health Records, Health Career Exploration, Medical Assistant, Medical Office, and Phlebotomy courses. The Health Studies adjunct faculty teaches courses and skill development didactically. Students who enroll in these courses are typically in programs such as Medical Coding, Medical Office Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Phlebotomy but individuals outside of these programs may take some of these courses.

Some courses are delivered online, and some may be taught face-to-face or in the hybrid modality.

  • MO 105 Pharmacology — 2 Credits
  • HL 117 Soft Skills for Medical Professionals — 3 Credits
  • HL 116 Electronic Health Records — 2 Credits
  • HL 109 Health Career Exploration (Hybrid) — 3 Credits
  • HL 103 Medical Terminology — 3 Credits
  • Medical Assistant Program Courses
  • Medical Coding Program Courses
  • Medical Office Program Courses
  • Phlebotomy Program Courses

Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and beyond. Days and times vary based on the delivery modality of the course (online, hybrid, or face-to-face).

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Teach students in a classroom or online environment following protocols and procedures and the curriculum;
  • Develop course content for the course;
  • Collaborate with program officials on students’ academic progress and needs;
  • Participate in the assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
  • Provide an engaging learning environment;
  • Communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and work as part of a team;
  • Stay current with professional development activities on their own time;
  • Use the College’s technology platforms to effectively communicate with students and colleagues to enhance the learning, as appropriate;
  • Exhibit current experience and relevancy in the healthcare environment being taught;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean/Dean.
