The Christa McAuliffe Charter School is an Expeditionary Learning charter school serving sixth‑to‑eighth‑grade students in the Greater Boston area. The mission is to cultivate within each student an intense commitment to self and community, the courage to set high standards, and the skills and attitudes to achieve those standards.

As a Spanish Teacher, you will engage students in learning about the language and culture of Spanish‑speaking peoples. You will collaborate with the World Language team and the Director of Teaching and Learning for curriculum and lesson planning, and contribute to ongoing curriculum development for our Spanish classes.

You will plan and deliver instruction aligned with recognized standards for middle school‑level world languages and assess students’ mastery. Your responsibilities include:

• Employ a variety of teaching methodologies to engage students in language and cultural learning, including cooperative learning, simulations, workshops, hands‑on projects, and inquiry‑based activities.
• Use total participation techniques to engage all scholars during each class.
• Implement formative and summative assessments to track student progress and involve students in the assessment process.
• Analyze data on student performance to inform instruction.
• Provide differentiated support, including accommodations and modifications, to ensure all students meet and exceed standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, including peer observations.
• Implement school‑wide positive behavioral systems to manage the classroom effectively.
• Communicate continuously with students’ families about performance and progress.
• Serve as a crew adviser to 10–12 students, leading a daily advisory and maintaining communication with parents.
• Serve as an active member of the McAuliffe community, including attending occasional evening celebrations of student learning.

• Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level.
• Commitment to developing curriculum and implementing EL Education core practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and a readiness to reflect and grow.
• Massachusetts DESE licensure in World Language‑Spanish (PreK‑8 or 5‑12) or eligibility for waiver.
• Additional qualifications:
  
  at least 3 years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred, citizenship or work authorization required.

Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, move around the classroom and school building to assist students, lift or move instructional materials up to 25 lbs occasionally, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents in person and digitally.

Salary Range: $41,952 (step 0, Bachelor’s) – $84,016 (step 20, Master’s). Final base salary will be determined based on skills, education, and experience.
