Located in Greater Boston, Mass Bay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position SummaryThe ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. Adjunct instructors are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program, Mass Bay Community College and (as applicable, accreditation, licensure, and specialty requirements) in accordance with the MA Office of Emergency Medical Services and CoAEMSP.
The part-time instructor is responsible for maintaining a current OEMS or NREMT license/certification and expertise in emergency medical services.
Mass Bay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors to educate the next generation of Emergency Medical Services professionals. This instructor teaches classroom, skills lab, and simulation laboratory courses in the EMT and Paramedicine Programs. The ideal candidate will work as part of a team, demonstrate a passion for collaborative work with diverse faculty, staff and students and have an ability to positively influence, mentor and work with a diverse student population of the Emergency Medical Services program.
This instructor adheres to faculty responsibilities in accordance with regulations set forth by the MA OEMS (Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services) and, standards set forth by CoAEMSP (Committee on Accreditation of Emergency Medical Service Providers).
This candidate must exhibit an appreciation of, and sensitivity to, and respect for a rich and diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying backgrounds, and those with differing abilities.
May include day and evening courses.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Teach EMT and Paramedicine Programs to include classroom, clinical, laboratory courses, and simulation-based courses;
- Prepare syllabi and develop curricula for lectures, laboratory, and simulation settings to address course and program student learning outcomes and Graduation;
- Competencies as appropriate;
- Teach effectively in a traditional or hybrid environment;
- Serve as an advisor to students, as needed;
- Participate in College, Division and Program meetings, as needed;
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
- Maintain a safe environment during skills training and evaluation sessions;
- Participate in and support the accreditation efforts of EMS;
- Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;
- Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program and accreditation agencies;
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean/Assistant Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Qualifications- Current, active MA and/or NREMT Paramedic certification without restriction/in good standing;
- You must obtain your Massachusetts paramedic license within 30 days of hire if you only hold NREMT certification;
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience within the last ten years, as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance providing EMS care;
- Any associate degree (from an accredited college or university) or comparable years of experience and a commitment to complete an associate degree from an accredited college or university within 3 years of hire;
- Current AHA, BLS and ACLS certification;
- Current AHA BLS Instructor credential if teaching EMT's.

- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
- Teaching experience in EMS- EMTs, Paramedics, first responders, and/or other healthcare related teaching experiences;
- Availability to teach in the evening;
- Current Massachusetts EMS Instructor/Coordinator credential;
- Current NRP provider and instructor credential;
