Position Summary

The Campus Aide provides supervision and direction to students across various areas of the school campus and maintains classroom continuity to ensure students continue to learn in the teacher’s absence. This role serves as an entry point into the school environment, offering hands‑on experience across diverse school building areas and a strong foundation for future promotional opportunities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with children or in an educational/community setting preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Strong oral and written skills, ability to present information clearly and respond effectively to questions from students, staff, parents, and community members; maintain positive collaborative relationships.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Sound reasoning, analytical skills to evaluate information, define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Instructional Practice: Use professional literature and evidence‑based research; evaluate student skills, write clear reports; implement lessons aligned with district and school goals.
  • Data & Technology: Use data to inform instruction and improve outcomes; proficiency with instructional technology and educational software, including Google Workspace for Education.
  • Organizational & Leadership: Strong organizational and time‑management skills; prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities to support student programming.
  • Cultural Proficiency & Equity: Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work equitably with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality: Commit to district requirements, state and federal laws, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Professionalism, Attendance & Adaptability: Maintain regular attendance; respond professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations such as behavioral issues, with proactive, solution‑focused approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

I. Instruction Time & Classroom Continuity
  • Implements daily substitute lesson plans to ensure continuous learning.
  • Creates a safe, conducive classroom environment appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
  • Guides learning toward curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives.
  • Employs appropriate instructional methods and materials.
  • Enforces classroom rules, maintains order, assists in implementing school policies.
  • Works with small groups to support learning and responds to student questions.
  • Remains calm, efficient, positive, and addresses immediate problems in accordance with district procedures.
II. Non-Instruction Time & Supervision
  • Supervises students during lunch, circulates through cafeteria, maintains a positive, safe atmosphere.
  • Assists with opening packages/milk cartons, cleaning spills, assisting students through cafeteria line.
  • Adheres to PBIS routines in cafeteria.
  • Directs student movement to and from cafeteria, classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms safely.
  • Assists with arrival and dismissal procedures, including ELT coverage.
  • Reports disciplinary, safety, sanitary, or fire concerns promptly.
  • Professionally represents the school and district in all interactions.
III. Safety & Security Operations
  • Monitors video surveillance, reports malfunctions, recommends enhancements.
  • Performs daily building security checks, reports breaches.
  • Assists with lockdown drills, emergency evacuations, and other security procedures.
  • Provides interior and exterior supervision across common areas, hallways, parking lots, and athletic fields.
  • Assists administrators with locker searches, student restraints, supervision, and investigations.
  • Monitors in‑house suspension, after‑school suspension, and other designated supervision assignments.
  • Investigates reports of theft, vandalism, or security breaches, attends extracurricular events as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
