TITLE:

Percussion Instructor (Indoor Season) Seasonal Stipend Position

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide equitable co-curricular instruction and enrichment to students outside of regular school hours to either further develop a field of study and/or interest or introduce an area of study to enhance the teaching of the whole child.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Massachusetts Teaching license in the area of study is preferred.

TRAINING AND

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in the field with appropriately aged students. Professional experience and/or experience in a school setting.

SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in the educational field.

To communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.

To establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the community.

Strong collaborative, teaching, coaching and leadership skills to support student programming.

Strong problem-solving skills to support student success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed:

Attend the rehearsals, band camps, and performances, actively participating in assisting students in sectional and whole group rehearsals.

Teach drum line basics (Marching techniques and stick work).

Choreograph and teach the routine for the show.

Assign equipment responsibilities and assign equipment to students.

Work with the pit to teach and assist with the memorization of music.

Work with the drill writer to check the positioning of the drum line and pit in each musical selection.

Assist in teaching the drill for the show.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Fine and Performing Arts or Band Director that will provide for a successful program.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Covered under the Framingham Teachers Association (Unit

A) Contract. Meets once each week for 1-3 hours is required. Payment due at the end of the assignment.
