PERSPECTIVE
The Framingham Youth Theatre (FYT) Summer Program Aide provides essential instructional and operational support to the Teacher, ensuring the effective delivery of enriching summer programs for our students. This role assists with project‑based learning, manages program materials, and supports classroom management. Key responsibilities include modeling positive behavior, supporting social‑emotional development, and assisting with daily logistics such as student arrivals and departures.
The FYT Summer Program Aide serves as a relatable role model, requiring enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
- Assist in the facilitation of all program activities and support seamless transitions between academic and enrichment sessions.
- Assist with daily bus arrival and departure procedures, ensuring safe and organized transitions.
- Serve as a positive peer mentor, inspiring students to set and achieve ambitious goals.
- Model highest standards of professionalism and conduct per Framingham Public Schools core values.
- Build positive, supportive relationships with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students, including those with special needs and multilingual learners.
- Provide operational support for family engagement activities and special program events.
- Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
- Support daily logistical needs (check‑in/out, meal times, organization of materials).
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Education and Experience
- Current high school student.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or community setting is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is strongly preferred.

- Technology – proficient with Google Workspace and instructional technology.
- Mobility & Navigation – frequent movement across school buildings and grounds.
- Stationary Tasks – reporting and data entry while seated.
- Technology & Data – input digital and printed data.
- Manual Dexterity – hands/arms to operate technology and handle instructional tools.
- Physical Strength – lift at least 20 lbs; lift or move up to 40 lbs when needed.
- Sensory Requirements – see and hear continuously.
- Working Environment – school setting with moderate‑to‑high noise levels.
- Crisis Management – engage with students exhibiting challenging behavior.
- Physical Stamina – manage active behavioral interventions.
- Hygiene & Safety – responsible for safety and potential exposure to bodily fluids.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) ClassificationNon‑Exempt (Hourly)
Terms of Employment- Program Duration – July and early August; mandatory orientation in late June.
- Attendance Requirement – consistent attendance required for full duration.
- Contractual Status – covered under the Framingham School Committee Contract.
- Operational Flexibility – district may transfer personnel to different sites or programs.
