School Transportation Student Intern

The School Transportation Student Intern is responsible for assisting the Department of Transportation with a wide range of analytical and operational tasks, with a primary focus on bus route optimization and efficiency planning. The student intern should expect to gain invaluable skills and knowledge relating to logistics, data analysis, and GIS mapping within a public school system. Additionally, the intern will support projects directed by the Director of Transportation.

Educational Requirement:
Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Urban/Transportation Planning, Data Analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field. Bachelor degree in related field is required, Masters degree in related field is preferred.

Professional

Experience:

Practical, hands-on experience or coursework involving data entry, spreadsheet management, mapping tools, or logistics planning is preferred. We welcome candidates who bring perspectives from non-traditional educational backgrounds or an understanding of underrepresented experiences.

    Ability to operate and/or acquire skills to operate a computer and related software, including but not limited to the Google Suite.

    Highly motivated, creative, displaying a high degree of maturity, integrity, and capability to work independently to support district needs.

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, caregivers, staff, and the community. Work with individuals and families of diverse backgrounds in an equitable, inclusive, and culturally proficient manner.
  • Professionalism, Attendance & Adaptability:
    Maintain regular and punctual attendance to ensure consistent department operations and district-wide support. React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations, such as behavioral issues or environmental changes, while maintaining a proactive, reflective, and solution-focused approach.
  • Organizational Management:
    Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position.
