Position: Campus Aide (0.4 FTE)

Position Summary

The Campus Aide provides supervision and direction to students across various areas of the school campus and maintains classroom continuity to ensure that students continue to learn in their teacher’s absence. This role serves as an entry point into the school environment, offering hands‑on experience across diverse areas and a foundation for future promotional opportunities. The position promotes a safe, orderly environment for students and staff during classroom and non‑classroom activities, aligning with FPS’s high expectations for achievement, equity, and inclusion.

Training and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with children or within an educational/community setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.
Skills and Ability
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and respond effectively to questions from students, staff, parents, and community members; ability to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills: sound reasoning and analytical skills to evaluate information, define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Instructional and professional practice: ability to use professional literature, evidence‑based research, and ongoing professional learning to inform practice decisions; experience evaluating student skills and writing clear, concise reports; ability to implement lessons aligned with district and school goals.
  • Data and technology proficiency: ability to use data effectively to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes; proficiency in instructional technology and educational software, including Google Workspace for Education.
  • Organizational and leadership skills: strong organizational and time‑management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities to support student programming.
  • Cultural proficiency and equity: demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work effectively and equitably with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Compliance and confidentiality: commitment to performing all duties in compliance with district requirements, state and federal laws, and Framingham Public Schools policies; ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and student records.
  • Professionalism, attendance and adaptability: maintain regular and punctual attendance; react professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations, such as behavioral issues, while maintaining a proactive, solution‑focused approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction Time & Classroom Continuity

  • Implements daily substitute lesson plans in the teacher's absence to ensure continuous learning.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is safe, conducive to learning, and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons and units.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated learning objectives.
  • Enforces rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintains order, and assists the administration in implementing school policies governing student life.
  • Works with small groups to support their learning and responds to student questions with support and guidance.
  • Remains calm, efficient, positive, and addresses immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with district procedures.

Non‑Instruction Time & Supervision

  • Supervises students during lunchtime, circulates throughout the cafeteria, and maintains a positive, safe atmosphere.
  • Helps students by opening packages/milk cartons, cleaning up spills, and assisting students through the cafeteria line in an orderly fashion.
  • Adheres to routines outlined in the school’s Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) plan as it pertains to the cafeteria.
