English Language Programs Instructors (Contract)

The English Language Programs at Framingham State University hires instructors qualified to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in our Intensive English Program (IEP) and Community English Language Program (CELP). The IEP includes weekday courses and Individualized Study Plans. The CELP includes evening and Saturday courses. Successful applicants will be part of a growing university-based program that works with students who are international students, immigrants to the local community, and professionals from around the world.

It is expected that most courses will be held on campus for the  academic year.

Teaching assignments are part-time contract positions each semester and contract renewal depends on programmatic priorities and enrollment. Classes are held during the day, in the evenings, and on Saturdays. Successful applicants will become part of a team-approach to teaching that seeks to apply research-based theories of adult second language acquisition. Innovative approaches to effective pedagogy and classroom techniques are encouraged. Instructors will develop course materials, choose appropriate textbooks, and develop content based on the English Language Program's curriculum guide, program objectives, and administrative guidance.

Instructors report to the Executive Director of English Language Programs and Community Education. Tutoring sessions, according to pre-arranged schedules, are taught either on the FSU campus or online.

A master degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or Applied Linguistics is preferred. A master degree or bachelor degree in a related field with coursework in TESOL methodology is also acceptable.

This posting is for potential part-time, non-benefited, contract positions during the  academic year and may not exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $53.00 per class hour with no additional compensation for preparation time. Summer 2026 courses begin May 13, 2026;
Fall courses begin September 2, 2026;
Spring 2027 courses begin January 19, 2027.

Framingham State University conducts criminal history and sexual offender record checks on recommended finalists prior to final employment for all positions. Framingham State University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Members of underrepresented groups, minorities, women, veterans, persons with disabilities, and all persons committed to diversity and inclusive excellence are strongly encouraged to apply.
