Assistant Director for Employer Engagement

Framingham State University's Career Development office is entering a new era focused on building a career ecosystem. We are looking for an Assistant Director to join our team who is excited about building employer connections at a geographically unique regional public university. Our new Career Community model and career readiness integration efforts have both faculty and staff eager to bring new employer energy into the workplace and the classroom.

The Assistant Director for Employer Engagement works as a member of the Center for Student Experience and Career Development developing strong relationships and outreach strategies with off-campus and on-campus employers, FSU Alumni and Faculty.

Specific

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Employer and Alumni Outreach:
    Serve as primary contact for off-campus employers:
    Develop and maintain productive relationships with local, regional and national employers to increase and expand the number of internship and job opportunities for Framingham State students
  • Conduct outreach when necessary with current and prospective employer contacts and alumni to increase engagement with recruiting opportunities and create targeted strategic outreach plans to effectively engage a diverse range of employers across various sectors
  • Plan and execute career fairs, networking events, employer panels, and other events to facilitate interactions between students and employers
  • Create recruiting policies and best practices for on-campus employers
  • Coordinate with the university's career development office to ensure strategic alignment of employer engagement activities and outreach with broader career development initiatives including Internship Experiences and integration with Career Communities
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to employer engagement activities, including feedback, metrics, and outcomes
  • Use data-driven insights to assess the effectiveness of strategies, identify areas for improvement, and optimize future initiatives
  • Work with employer partners and professional associations to develop knowledge of local, regional and national career trends
  • Develop and implement innovative employer engagement strategies aligned with organizational objectives, and identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration
  • Collaborate with Director to ensure employer engagement activities align with university-wide strategic goals
  • Work with the Student Coordinator of Careers and Administrative Assistant that aid in Handshake management job and event approvals and postings and peer career advising
  • Hire, train, and manage Employer Engagement Student Coordinators of Careers (SCCs) to deliver peer perspectives and support Handshake initiatives
  • Supervise SCCs on ad hoc projects and initiatives that ensure student voice in the office and contribute to wider office goals
  • Organize jobs newsletter in collaboration with SCCs
  • Provide classroom presentations, and employer networking opportunities
  • Work closely with Academic College Faculty Fellows to understand the curriculum and skills of FSU students, and align employer engagement efforts with the needs of different majors and programs
  • Oversee creation of employer event portfolio each semester
  • Collaborate with Career Development staff to ensure student needs are met through diverse events
  • Ensure advertising and publication of all career events is successfully executed
  • Connect with a variety of students and alumni and potential employers, review resumes and cover letters, and coach students about the career search and interview process
  • Responsible for Handshake job platform reporting and marketing
  • Implement career-related events including but not limited to Career Fairs, Networking Events, and the Employer Showcase Series
  • Assist in the hiring of professional, classified and student employees within the Center for Student Experience and Career Development
  • Maintain records in order to constantly evaluate programs and services to provide resource documents and data for year-end reports
  • Publicize internship, and job opportunities to students through various channels, such as online job boards, email newsletters, and social media
  • Serve on Student Development and University-wide standing committees
  • Attend and aid in University functions of general importance to the student body (Orientation, Commencement, Black & Gold Beginnings, Homecoming & Family Weekend, etc.)
  • Stay current on trends in higher education and career development through involvement in professional organizations, in-service training, and continued education
  • Work some evenings and weekend events, providing general event management support to the Center's events and programs
  • Serve as travel staff for student-led off-campus trips
