Elementary Teacher

Framingham Public Schools is seeking a long term substitute elementary teacher for Harmony Grove Elementary School from August 24, 2026 to January 4, 2027.

The position involves providing direct instruction to students to meet the high expectations of Framingham Public Schools, ensuring equal access to high levels of instruction, and closing the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. The teacher will support team, school, and district initiatives, and provide support to all students' academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health needs to ensure the development of the whole child while adhering to the district's curriculum.

A valid Massachusetts teaching license in the appropriate content area is preferred. At least a bachelor's degree in the area of major study is required. The successful candidate will possess strong oral and written communication skills, ability to read and analyze professional literature and governmental regulations, sound reasoning and problem-solving skills, capacity to use professional literature and evidence-based research to inform instructional decisions, ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, strong organizational and time-management skills, commitment to performing all duties in compliance with district requirements, demonstrated cultural proficiency, ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism and composure, proficiency in using technology, willingness to participate in professional learning, experience in evaluating student skills, strong collaborative, instructional, coaching, and leadership skills, ability to use data to inform instructional decisions, knowledge of specialized content areas, relevant laws, and educational procedures, and ability to plan and implement lessons that align with district and school goals.

The essential duties include planning, preparation, and instruction; classroom environment and management; assessment and reporting; communication and collaboration; and professional responsibilities and development. The work environment includes moving about throughout the school building, sitting, reaching, lifting at least 20 lbs, using hands to handle tools, assisting students with physical difficulties, operating computers and other office productivity machinery, communicating effectively, seeing and hearing continuously, moving quickly across surfaces, interacting with students, parents, and staff, spending time outdoors, and being exposed to bodily fluids, disease, or pathogens.

The position reports to the building principal and is classified as exempt (professional). It is covered under the Framingham School Committee Contract, and the district reserves the right to transfer personnel as needed.
