Job Description MISSIONThe mission of the Christa McAuliffe Charter School is to cultivate within each member of a diverse student body an intense commitment to self and community, the courage and insight to set high standards for academic and personal success, and the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to achieve those standards.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The Christa McAuliffe Charter School is a diverse EL Education school for 350 scholars in grades 6-8. Our hands-on curriculum inspires achievement through active learning, character growth, and teamwork. McAuliffe is a community of engaged, motivated learners — students and adults alike. At McAuliffe, students take ownership of their learning, guided by creative, passionate educators. The community values independence and individuality, while practicing collaboration, inclusivity, and acceptance.
For everyone who experiences it — students, faculty, staff, and families — McAuliffe truly is a transformative learning experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW

The goal of McAuliffe’s enrichment program is to provide our middle school scholars with a menu of safe, enriching, and fun activities for each of three seasons: fall, winter, and spring. The Coordinator is responsible for building a robust menu of enrichment options facilitated by faculty, parents/guardians, and community partners. We will encourage expansion of popular classes/clubs/activities and development of new opportunities in order to involve more scholars -- and more diverse scholars -- on an annual basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a seasonal menu of enrichment opportunities for each day of the week, including but not limited to visual arts, physical activities, academic support, music/theatre, and role-play games (e.g., Dungeons and Dragons).
- Build and maintain relationships with faculty, families, and community partners who lead enrichment activities
- Recruit faculty, parents/guardians, and community partners to lead new enrichment activities
- As needed and desired, lead some enrichment activities
- Create a seasonal enrichment catalog to showcase the menu of options
- Communicate enrichment opportunities with scholars and families with support from the Director of Admissions and Community Outreach.
- Develop and oversee an annual and seasonal enrichment budget with support from the Director of Admissions and Community Outreach and the Director of Business and HR
- Collaborate with the Athletics Coordinators to plan for and manage the use of space, including Adventure Center and outdoor turf
- Ensure all enrichment activity leaders are vetted, have completed a CORI background check, and complete required trainings including but not limited to civil rights, bullying prevention and intervention, and life-threatening allergies.
- Provide supervision to programming, visiting activities, and supporting enrichment activity leaders
- Communicate with families, including responding to questions and concerns
- Work with the Dean of Students, school counselors, and families to navigate student support or disciplinary situations that take place after school
- Evaluate the enrichment program seasonally to improve program and options; as relevant, give feedback to activity leaders
