POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Education Teacher for the Learning Services in Alternative Programs (LEAP) provides critical instructional support through a primarily sub-separate service model, leading a specialized, smaller classroom environment to ensure students achieve academic success, independence, and meaningful participation in the learning environment. In this role, the teacher acts as a lead educator focused on the development of cognitive, communication, and social skills, delivering research-based interventions and intensive modifications to the curriculum to maximize student learning.
This role is essential to Framingham Public Schools' day-to-day operations and strategic goal of fostering the development of the "whole child" by prioritizing readiness, self-help, and independent living skills. This commitment aligns with Framingham Public Schools' high expectations for achievement, providing equal access to specialized instruction, and closing the achievement gap for students requiring comprehensive academic and life-skills support.
Students in our LEAP Programs require a smaller setting that focuses on developing cognitive skills, communication, social skills, readiness, self-help, and independent living skills. Students in this Program often require both modifications and accommodations to the curriculum in order to maximize their learning and reach their highest potential.
