Engineering Drafter

Overview

Leidos is recruiting Engineering Drafters in Framingham, MA to develop construction work packages for electric distribution systems. Candidates will work on overhead and underground distribution systems using GIS, CAD, and WMS tools, and perform engineering calculations for poles, cable pulling, fault currents, and protective device coordination.

• Design and develop electrical overhead and underground distribution system work packages (12kV‑35kV), including overload transformer upgrades, joint‑use projects, voltage conversions, and line upgrades associated with resiliency and reliability improvements.
• Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices.
• Prepare supporting documentation including forestry trimming requests, permit and right‑of‑way acquisition, bill of materials, cost estimates, and customer‑advocacy tasks such as acquiring easements or calculating Customer Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC).
• Comply with quality control, safe work practices, and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience in distribution design.
• Experience with voltage conversion, distribution automation, and design of complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams, both verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work.

Pay Range: $40,300 – $72,850 per year.
