Mechanical Engineer II

• Work with multi-disciplinary teams through product development and manufacturing phases.
• Identify and solve challenging mechanical engineering problems by creating functional prototypes and new technologies for In-the-Home and On-the-Go Audio products.
• Evaluate design options through computer modeling, measurements, and physical prototype testing.
• Draft mechanical specifications, verification and validation plans, and execute verification testing.
• Complete detailed design in collaboration with manufacturing partners to meet program objectives.
• Support designs and documentation through manufacturing start‑up and continuing engineering.
• Communicate with local/global Bose teams and vendor base.

• Strong problem‑solving experience in mechanical design and development of high‑volume consumer products.
• Experience with a variety of materials including molded plastics, elastomers (particularly silicones), aluminum, and steel.
• Quantitatively understand materials, their use, feel, and properties.
• Collaborate with Industrial Designers, Artists and User Experience (UX) to realize exceptional cosmetic and touch experiences.
• Design parts across a wide range of sizes for high volume production with flawless cosmetic and functional performance.
• Develop solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity, creativity, and technical expertise.
• 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawings with NX; familiarity with Solid Works.
• Hands‑on lab work to evaluate/test/analyze and fix design prototypes and production systems.
• Familiarity with PCB layout/fabrication and MCAD/ECAD data exchange.
• Interface and collaborate with Joint Development Manufacturers and Contract Manufacturers to achieve cost, schedule and design efficiencies.
• Familiarity with product data management systems and change notices (CNs), preferably Windchill.
• Basic proficiency in using simple hand tools for hardware part construction or modification.
• Knowledge of EMI, UL, FCC or CSA compliance is preferred but not required.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3‑7 years of work experience, preferably with high‑volume products.

The hiring range for this position in Framingham, Massachusetts is $80,600–$110,750. Compensation is tailored to your skills, experience, education, and location and goes beyond base salary.
