The MA Bio‑Campus is home to Sanofi's digital facility which won ISPE's Facility of the Future and Facility of the Year 2020. As such, the Manufacturing Systems & Automation group is responsible for executing Sanofi Digital Strategy to deliver innovative solutions. Focused on Digital 4.0, this group delivers digital solutions for large capital projects as well as continuous improvement and optimizing existing solutions.
The group is responsible for design, implementation, support, and maintenance of digital systems aligned with site and company goals. The group is responsible for maintaining stable, qualified, and highly available computing infrastructure and digital software applications. This encompasses work processes that originate with the identification of a new or revised digital system, design, installation, verification and validation of the system, maintenance of the system in its commissioned/qualified/validated state, and retirement of the system at the end of its life.

Main Responsibilities- Provides automation expertise for small to medium projects, including continuous improvement and retrofit.
- Supports troubleshooting and delivery of future enhancements for automation‑related systems.
- Maintains and provides technical support, ensuring availability of automation systems for multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Provides leadership and direction to junior team members while embodying the principles of the Sanofi Global Leadership Model.
- Ensures timely issue escalation to senior management and cross‑functional support teams.
- Partners with support teams (Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to ensure deliverables are completed to meet production schedules.
- Provides technical solutions to a wide range of process automation design challenges.
- Ensures process equipment automation is available to support operations schedule requirements.
- Manages small departmental projects and ensures that the appropriate controls, approvals, and validation requirements are implemented.
- Integrates systems and data from a variety of skidded systems, analytical equipment, and process/building control systems.
- Develops robust solutions that have minimal downtime and ensure data integrity.
- Contributes to the development of automation standards.
- Complies with Sanofi training requirements.
- Ensures inspection readiness of assigned areas.
- Oversees completion of investigations and deviations.
- Ensures all assigned deviations and CAPAs are closed in a timely manner.
- Ensures that automation documentation is compliant and inspection ready.
- Participates in inspections conducted by external regulators.
- Complies with requirements from Genzymes Safety Program, including health and safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
- Works collaboratively with inter‑department and cross‑functional teams to lead necessary changes in a timely and productive manner.
- Partners with Manufacturing to troubleshoot and drive resolution of process issues and proactively drives projects to improve manufacturing process.
- Partners with Operational Excellence to drive process improvements through Kaizens, Kanban, 5S and VSM.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related technological field and 2+ years of experience in the automation field preferably in the life sciences.
- Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience in the automation field preferably in the life sciences field.
- Direct experience with regulated environments (cGMP, OSHA, EPA).
- Experience with DeltaV automation.
- Experience with multiple computerized systems (Ignition, Werum PAS‑X, PI, etc.).
