Job Overview
O’Brien Tax Service seeking a full-time, in-office Tax Preparer to join our Framingham location. We are looking for a detail-oriented and professional individual who can manage a wide range of tax situations while delivering excellent client service. Our business is mostly seasonal work but if this is a good fit, this position could potentially be year-round employment.

Description:

Responsible for preparing and reviewing various business and individual tax returns (1040, 1120, 1065, etc.) and ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years tax preparation experience required
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Knowledge of IRS and Massachusetts Department of Revenue tax code
  • Ability to prepare individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns
  • Ability to advise clients on diverse tax matters
  • Must work on-site in Framingham (no remote option)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of corporate and foreign tax returns and regulation

Responsibilities:

  • Client appointments in office and over the phone
  • Follow up with clients regarding missing or additional documentation
  • Prepare accurate and compliant federal and state tax returns
  • Maintain organized and secure client files
  • Provide general tax guidance throughout the filing process

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong email communication and phone etiquette
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
  • Familiarity with office management systems and procedures
  • Ability to operate office equipment (fax, copier, scanner, etc.)
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a small team
