Summary / Objective The Lending Compliance Specialist supports the Bank’s compliance with applicable commercial and small business lending regulations, fair lending requirements, and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) obligations. This role focuses on compliance oversight of commercial credit products, SBA and small business lending, and related operational processes, while supporting CRA data integrity, documentation, and examination readiness. The position works closely with commercial lenders, credit administration, and risk management to promote regulatory compliance and responsible community banking practices.

Experience &

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).3–5 years of experience in bank compliance, commercial lending, credit administration, CRA, or risk management.

Experience with commercial credit, small business lending, SBA lending, or CRA administration strongly preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

Support compliance with laws and regulations applicable to commercial, small business, and SBA lending, including:

Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and Community Development Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) / Regulation BFlood Disaster Protection Act Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP)
Support compliance review of commercial lending disclosures, adverse action notices, and credit decision documentation.

Assist in administering the Bank’s CRA program with emphasis on small business, commercial, and community development lending, including:

Collect, validate, and analyze CRA and HMDA-related commercial loan data, including small business loan reporting.

Identify and document CRA and HMDA-qualifying loans, investments, and services tied to commercial and community development activities.

Maintain CRA public file documentation related to commercial lending performance.

Support CRA performance context analysis and preparation for regulatory examinations.

Support fair lending monitoring related to commercial and small business lending, including:

Assist in identifying potential fair lending or disparate treatment risks within commercial credit portfolios.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders on corrective actions and enhancements to controls.

Assist with Regulatory Exams & Reporting Assist with regulatory examinations and internal audits related to lending compliance and CRA.Prepare reports, schedules, and documentation for regulators, auditors, and senior management.

Track examination findings, management responses, and corrective action plans.

Assist in developing and delivering compliance and CRA training for commercial lenders, credit analysts, and other interested parties.

Serve as a compliance resource for commercial lending, credit administration, and SBA teams.

Promote a risk-aware and compliance-focused culture while supporting responsible growth in commercial lending.

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

Working knowledge of commercial lending regulations and fair lending requirements.

Understanding of CRA and HMDA requirements related to small business and community development lending.

Familiarity with commercial loan documentation and credit approval processes.

Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.

Ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply it to commercial lending practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with loan and compliance systems a plus.

Strong attention to detail and critical thinking

Effective collaboration with commercial lenders and credit teams

Ability to manage multiple priorities and regulatory deadlines

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Sound judgment and professionalism

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Sitting for extended periods of time.

Sufficient dexterity of hands and fingers to efficiently operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.

Ability to converse and exchange information with all levels of staff within organization.
