Activities Assistant

A Faith-Based, Nonprofit, 303-bed, Short and Long-term care facility sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters. We are a place of life, a place of caring, and more importantly, a true home for our residents. Located on lush, manicured lawns and gardens in Framingham, MA, we are just minutes from Route 9 for easy access to the Mass Pike.

We are seeking to fill the position of Activities Assistant
- Life Enrichment for the Specialty Dementia Unit
.

  • Per Diem $17 to $19.74 per hour based on experience.

Activities Assistant Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working with arts and crafts in a nursing home experience required.
  • Activities Assistant Certification or willingness to be certified (rick's Manor expense) within 6 months.
  • Computer literate with training on entering resident care plan codes (MDS), preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English.

Activities Assistant Working Conditions:

  • Bending, standing, sitting, lifting, walking and moving intermittently during working hours.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of residents as necessary.
  • May need to lift serving trays of up to 30 pounds.

Activities Assistant
- Life Enrichment Job Summary:

  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing the activities programs of the facility.
  • Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
  • Assist the Activity Director with preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the activity needs of each resident.
  • Review and report on resident assessments.
  • Develop and maintain a good rapport with all the services involved with the care plan.
  • Encourage social communication among residents through group activities and recreation.
  • Encourage residents to participate in hobbies and crafts; provide materials as necessary.
  • Assists in the transportation of residents to activities.
