The Behavior Specialist II is responsible for collecting, maintaining,
and analyzing behavioral data; providing staff training and coaching;
supporting direct implementation of behavioral strategies; and assisting
with administrative functions of the Behavior Services department. The
position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work
collaboratively across departments, and the capacity to model
professional and therapeutic behavior support practices.
- Contribute to the development of positive and therapeutic environments that align with best practices in behavior analysis by supporting the implementation of departmental initiatives and long-term projects.
- Provide on-site modeling, role-playing, and coaching to direct care staff, promoting the use of positive behavior supports and effective intervention strategies.
- Ensure a safe environment for students, individuals served, and staff during behavioral emergencies by responding to emergencies providing direct support during crises, including active participation in physical restraint procedures when necessary.
- Assist with student appointments, outings, and related off-site activities to support individualized treatment and community integration.
- Assist with preference assessments, Treatment Integrity Forms, functional behavior assessments, skill acquisition planning, BSP & treatment plan updates, and other relevant reports working with the clinical teams to create and foster environments that support growth, skill development, and replacement behaviors.
- Attend and/or facilitate classroom, residential, and interdisciplinary meetings as scheduled maintaining effective communication with program staff and Behavioral Services leadership.
- Develop and manage databases for incidents, restraints, time-out, PICA, and psychiatric clinics by collecting, compiling, inputting, and maintaining behavior data from school and residential programs.
- Complete, input, and submit required data, reports, service logs, and departmental paperwork in a timely manner ensuring compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards when handling files and records.
- Participate in departmental meetings, PBS/other service-related meetings, and required trainings.
- Manage interdepartmental and external correspondence generated by Behavior Services including monthly Behavioral Services schedules.
- Support and deliver staff training sessions and new employee orientation as directed, tracking departmental in-service hours and staff training records
- Support weekly clinics by coordinating schedules, preparing materials, and ensuring timely communication among involved team members.
- Assist with record audits and other departmental projects as assigned.
- Provide administrative support to the Behavior Services department, including filing, copying, faxing, scheduling, and ordering supplies.
- Functions as an ambassador and liaison for Crystal Spires Inc.
