Help Desk Technician Intern

Department: Technology
Reports to: VP, Director of Information Technology
Supervises: None
Classification: Non-exempt

Summary / Objective

The intern will assist the IT department with various tasks, including installing and configuring hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, monitoring system performance, reviewing backups, maintaining user accounts, and providing support to end-users. This role offers hands‑on experience in different areas of IT by collaborating with IT personnel.

Experience & Education Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a computer science, information technology, or related degree program
  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows and macOS
  • Openness to learning new technologies
  • Good problem‑solving, analytical, and teamwork skills
Essential Job Functions
  • Responding to tickets, emails, and calls on technical issues
  • Providing solutions and advice on technical issues
  • Documenting and analyzing technical issues and customer interactions
  • Creating procedures for end‑user training
  • Using feedback from end‑users to improve problem‑solving techniques and customer service
  • Attending training sessions to stay current with best practices on how to help customers with technical issues

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional teamwork and leadership skills to help other technical support workers
  • Ability to learn new technologies and implement them
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Requires manual dexterity, the ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to travel to other worksites
