The job duties & responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with attorneys, other immigration paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure that work is completed prior to deadlines assigned by attorney;
- Continually monitoring all assigned cases for “red flags” (missing, inaccurate or incomplete documentation, etc.) and reporting them to attorney;
- Maintaining an accurate status list of all open matters and continually taking action to move them forward;
- Reviewing supporting documents provided by clients and ensuring that they contain the required information;
- Editing documents provided by client (to be reviewed and approved by attorney);
- Corresponding with clients regarding case status and non-legal questions involving their cases (ex: what additional documents are needed/case status/etc.);
- Maintaining a client status list;
- Performing other related duties as assigned;
- Contributing to maintaining positive team morale; and
- Acting as an ambassador for the mission, values, and standards of behavior for the firm.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required (no JD or JD candidates please)
- Any legal experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates professional conduct and presence
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to demonstrate support for organizational change
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
