Veterinary Technician Externship

Overview

Slade Veterinary Hospital in Framingham, MA partners with Rarebreed Veterinary Partners to host a Veterinary Technician Extern. The program welcomes veterinary technology students who want to learn, challenge themselves in a new environment, and gain hands-on experience. You will have access to the latest technology and collaborate with a positive team to deliver high-quality care to pets.

Employment may require successful completion of references and a background check. For Massachusetts applicants, the company complies with state law regarding lie detector tests.

• Engage in externship activities under supervision of a veterinary technician or veterinarian mentor.
• Work with the Rarebreed veterinary team to practice essential skills and soft skills such as communication and teamwork.
• Maintain regular conversations with your supervisor to identify skills to practice and any goals you would like to revisit.
• Collaborate to meet program goals and gain the best experience for your practicum.

• Be enrolled in an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Present documentation from the veterinary technology practicum instructor or program director outlining learning goals and expectations for both the student and the practice. Documentation must be reviewed by the student and Rarebreed prior to confirming externship.
