General Store Manager

The General Store Manager (GM) is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the store, including staff supervision, maximizing profitability, ensuring high‑level customer service, and maintaining store appearance in accordance with company policies.

  • Provide adequate training resources; ensure all associates are trained, safe, and customer‑service oriented. Conduct management training and monitor associate proficiency.
  • Create and sustain an inclusive store environment, encouraging mutual understanding, respect, and recognition of associates.
  • Develop associates and store management teams through talent management processes, coaching, performance appraisals, and hiring participation.
  • Ensure store conditions meet safety, service, and operational efficiency standards by adhering to policies and executing improvement actions. Manage all safety programs and report incidents timely. Comply with all applicable laws and company policies.
  • Lead change initiatives, champion programs, and educate associates on the need for change, ensuring execution according to design.
  • Meet or exceed key performance metrics and deliver budgeted merchandise profit by executing the merchandise plan. Review financial reports, take appropriate action, and ensure plan execution.
  • Analyze income statements and utilize reports to ensure store profitability; manage inventory to maximize sales, control costs, and reduce waste.
  • Analyze audit results and trends, taking corrective action for any identified issues.
  • Monitor shift cash handling and inventory; investigate shortages or inventory variations within defined thresholds.
  • Build community relationships, connect the store with local partners, and leverage organizational resources.

Qualifications
  • Available to work flexible hours, including day, night, weekends, and holidays.
  • Leadership experience in fast‑paced retail, food service, or fuel environment preferred.
  • Experience selecting, training, and managing staff.
  • Experience with labor allocation, sales building, scheduling, and expense management.
  • Experience coaching and developing team members through solid leadership skills.
  • Physical ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs during a shift.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
