Department of Developmental Services (DDS) – Middlesex West Area Office (Framingham, MA)

Job Overview

The Human Services Coordinator I (HSC I) is the primary contact for individuals and families served by the Department. The role involves building collaborative partnerships with families, guardians, provider agencies, and other stakeholders; coordinating the development of Individual Service Plans (ISP); and monitoring service implementation for DDS funded residential, day and support program providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development of Individual Service Plans (ISP) for caseload.
  • Monitor service implementation from DDS funded providers to ensure individuals receive appropriate services.
  • Arrange and coordinate Department of Developmental Services funded and generic support services as needed.
  • Maintain communication and outreach with community services and other state agencies.
  • Monitor safety and well‑being of assigned individuals.
  • Provide advocacy in human, civil and legal rights.
  • Facilitate team meetings and monitor follow‑through on team recommendations while maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain regular contact with individuals, service providers and families.
  • Arrange and/or provide crisis intervention as needed; assess needs and recommend follow‑up planning.
Specific Service Coordinator Roles HSC I is hiring for
  • Children’s Service Coordinator (CSC):
    Coordinate services for DDS‑eligible children (ages 3‑22) and their families, including general community supports, SPED process support, and referrals.
  • Self‑Direction Service Coordinator
    :
    Support participants in the Participant Directed Program with budgeting, recruiting, hiring, and payroll issues.
  • Autism Service Coordinator (ASD SC):
    Facilitate services and supports for autistic adults without intellectual disability, collaborating with other state agencies as needed.
  • Adult Service Coordinator
    :
    Identify and access needed supports for adults, manage waiver eligibility, and conduct regular visits to service settings.
  • Transition Service Coordinator
    :
    Manage the transition (Chapter 688 / Turning 22) process for young adults leaving special education, coordinating with local school authorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience facilitating groups and functioning effectively as a team member.
  • Knowledge and skill in developing and implementing educational and Individual Support Plans (ISP).
  • Knowledge of the developmental disabilities field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organization, planning, and prioritizing of work.
  • Professional interaction with the public, including client service.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time professional experience in human services, social work, or related field.
  • Or a combination of experience and education as follows:
    • Two (2) years of experience may be substituted by a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
    • For qualified intellectual disabled professionals, a bachelor’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, rehabilitation, nursing, or related fields is required.
  • Travel may be required; candidates using a motor vehicle must hold a valid driver’s license at the class level specific to assignment.
Additional Employment Information
  • Full‑time, 37.5 hour position (Shift: 8:45 am – 5:00 pm).
  • Days off:
    Saturday and Sunday.
  • Flexibility required to meet area office needs.
  • Salary range: $68,435.12 – $93,470.00 yearly.
  • Potentially eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
  • Salary placement determined by experience, education, and internal compensation structure (subject to collective bargaining agreement).
