Fireplace Service Technician - Full Time

Frankfort and Aurora, IL

Southwest Fireplace is seeking a full time Fireplace Service Technician who speaks English and has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.

Hours: Monday - Friday: 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM & willingness to work occasional Saturdays during winter months

Job Description

  • Diagnose, service, and repair gas and electric fireplaces (including ignition systems, pilot assemblies, valves, and controls)
  • Perform annual maintenance, cleanings, and inspections of gas inserts, stoves, and fireplaces
  • Troubleshoot gas pressure issues, venting problems, and control malfunctions
  • Read and interpret manufacturer installation and service manuals
  • Perform safe gas line checks and ensure compliance with local codes and company safety policies
  • Communicate professionally with customers, explain service findings, and provide maintenance recommendations
  • Maintain organized vehicle inventory, tools, and parts
  • Complete accurate service documentation and reports

Qualifications, Skills, and/or

Experience:

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must speak, read, and understand English
  • Own basic tools necessary to complete scheduled work
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Strong troubleshooting, mechanical, and diagnostic ability
  • Ability to read and follow written directions, manuals, and schematics
  • HVAC, gas appliance, or mechanical experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs+ and work from ladders or in tight spaces when needed
  • Familiarity with basic electrical and gas safety practices
  • Punctual, professional, and customer-service oriented
  • Willingness to learn and follow company procedures and technical training

Preferred Skills (but not required):

  • Experience with gas fireplace installation or service
  • NFI (National Fireplace Institute) Certification
  • HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing, experience
