The Alternative Education Teacher is responsible for providing instruction, supervision, academic support, and progress monitoring for students enrolled in the Frankfort Alternative Academy. The academy provides a structured, computer-based educational setting for students who benefit from an alternative to the traditional school schedule. Students attend either a morning or afternoon session and are expected to attend each day that school is in session.

Regular sessions are held from 8:00-11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

-2:30 p.m., with adjusted schedules on Wednesdays and two-hour delay days. Instruction is delivered primarily through the  learning platform. The teacher will provide direct assistance, tutoring, clarification, encouragement, and intervention as students work toward course completion and graduation requirements. The teacher will support students completing regular courses and credit-recovery courses.

Responsibilities include monitoring daily attendance, engagement, course progress, grades, and credit completion; helping students establish academic goals; maintaining an orderly and productive learning environment; providing individualized assistance; communicating with families, counselors, teachers, and administrators;

promoting academic integrity; and ensuring students remain focused and actively engaged in their coursework. The Alternative Education Teacher will also reinforce expectations regarding attendance, punctuality, daily participation, appropriate technology use, and academic honesty. The teacher will address incidents of cheating, plagiarism, or unauthorized use of artificial intelligence in accordance with school and program expectations.
