Location: AMVC Swine Health Services, Frankfort, IN
Type: Full time
POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Land Nutrient Specialist helps oversee the organization’s environmental performance and ensures farms are operating sustainably while also complying with State & Federal environmental regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Prepare, organize, and administer manure management plans
- Discuss manure plan requirements to farmers, customers, manure applicators, and other necessary individuals
- Maintain databases of information pertaining to the manure plans and soil samples
- Assist in organizing and coordinating manure application including record keeping
- Ensure farm environmental record keeping is maintained across numerous states
- Conduct periodic farm visits to ensure environmental compliance is followed
- Monitor mortality management and troubleshoot issues
- Understand and ensure compliance with biosecurity protocols
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred 2 or 4 year degree in an agricultural related field
- Preferred skill in using computers, Microsoft Office, and mapping software to manage databases (GIS)
- General agriculture knowledge
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and process data and develop recommendations and action plans
- Occasional travel is required
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- About 70% of this job is office and 30% is field time
