The Finance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the financial operations of Community Action Kentucky. This position assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, grant and contract tracking, payroll coordination, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Finance Coordinator works closely with CAK staff, contractors, funding agencies, auditors, and member agencies to ensure financial activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations, grant requirements, and organizational policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review, verify and process vendor invoices.
  • Review and assist with submitting invoices to funding agencies, contractors, and partners.
  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Monitor expenditures and revenues to support budget management.
  • Track grant and contract expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support annual audits and monitoring reviews by preparing requested documentation.
  • Receipt checks for deposit.
  • Maintain accounts receivable records, track outstanding balances, ensure timely collections, and report balances to the Executive Director.
  • Assist with development and monitoring of organizational and program budgets, as required.
  • Track grant budgets, billing, reimbursements, and match requirements.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify potential budget concerns.
  • Assist with financial reporting required by state, federal, and private funding sources.
  • Support subcontract management by verifying invoices and required financial documentation.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and maintain related records.
  • Assist with employee benefit administration and reporting.
  • Maintain confidential personnel and payroll records.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, organizational policies, grant requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of financial procedures.
  • Maintain internal controls and assist with risk management activities.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, vendors, contractors, funding agencies, auditors, and member agencies.
  • Assist with special projects, board reports, and financial analyses as assigned.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, conferences, and organizational events.
  • Occasional day and overnight travel may be required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
    • Minimum of two years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or nonprofit financial management experience preferred. Experience with grant-funded
    • programs and nonprofit accounting is strongly preferred. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software preferred.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and financial software systems.
    • Ability to prepare reports, analyze financial information, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Reliable transportation, valid Kentucky driver's license, and proof of insurance.
    • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
