Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a safety expert by analyzing data, researching solutions, monitoring regulations, and creating educational materials to help prevent workplace injuries.
  • Provide training for Ohio employers and BWC employees, identify training needs, and develop new classes to improve safety knowledge.
  • Coach and mentor field staff by assessing their skills, offering feedback, creating new‑hire training, and ensuring consistent quality across the state.
  • Conduct quality reviews of on‑site safety activities and consultative services to maintain accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Lead regulator updates and special projects, including updating Ohio safety rules and presenting changes to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

To Qualify, You Must:

  • 5 years’ experience in a public or private organization holding a position involved in risk management or loss control activities AND 3 years’ experience in policy development.
  • OR completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, risk management or a related field of study AND 3 years’ experience in a public or private organization involved in risk management or loss control activities AND 3 years’ experience in policy development.
  • OR an equivalent of the minimum class qualifications listed above.
  • Candidates with demonstrated safety experience are preferred.

Skill in: Operating a personal computer (Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, PDF, MS Project, SharePoint), good verbal & writing skills, use of analytical tools.

Ability to: Deal with many complex situations & determine appropriate actions, read/write/understand detailed technical reports, communicate effectively with all levels, complete routine forms, maintain accurate records, prepare concise accurate reports, proofread technical material, recognize errors, use proper research methods, prepare & deliver speeches, gather, collate & classify information & data, work independently, handle sensitive inquiries, draft & edit administrative policies & procedures.
