The Kentucky Department of Parks Safety and Training Branch is currently seeking a full-time Safety Administrator to provide Safety leadership and training to 44 park locations across the commonwealth. This position often works at the parks completing inspections, training, and assisting park safety coordinators toensure compliance with DOP policies, OSHA regulations and other state and federal regulations.
The Safety Administrator position reports directly to the Administrative Branch Manager.
Responsibilities include butare not limited to the following:
- Responsible to maintain and assist with Department of Parks safety programs and policies.
- Travel to all 44 park locations to provide safety leadership, instruction and training to the Department of Parks staff.
- Perform safety audits at park facilities identifying and correcting safety and health hazards and potential risks that affect state park staff and guests.
- Review workers’ compensation forms and accident investigations. Perform follow-up investigations andsubmit recommendations for prevention of work-related accidents.
- Identify safety and health injury and illness trends
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Expectations include but are not limited to the following:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal OSHA regulations and national consensus standards.
- Professional training and certifications related to safety, health, and emergency management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Four years of experience in area of safety operations or inspection, incident management, or emergency services.

Additional administrative, safety operations and/or inspection, incident management, or emergency services experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working ConditionsIncumbent must be able to make oral presentations. Travel may be required.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
