We seek a detail-oriented and proactive RIH Mobile Dentistry Specialist to oversee the coordination, performance, and strategic implementation of the mobile dentistry focus area as part of an oral health initiative focused on expanding access to definitive dental care in rural communities. RIH is one of the five new initiatives launching under the Rural Health Transformation (RHT), a statewide effort to strengthen rural health access and outcomes.

This role will help translate RHT’s broader vision into effective, on the ground implementation for RIH’s oral health focus. This initiative falls under the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) and is specifically managed by the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH).

Job Description:

The RIH Mobile Dentistry Specialist supports the A3 Transformation Team (Aspire → Activate → Attain), which functions as RHT’s central “nerve center” for disciplined execution across all five initiatives. This position reports to the RIH Initiative Lead and works closely with the Initiative Coordinator. The current work environment is primarily hybrid (2-3 days a week in office). This role may require statewide travel.

Dentistry Program Development & Implementation

  • Support the development and refinement of standardized protocols for mobile dental service delivery across funded partners
  • Establish guidance for service deployment, including site prioritization and scheduling alignment
  • Ensure alignment with RIH goals related to access expansion, definitive care, and ED diversion
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for funded mobile dental providers
  • Monitor adherence to program requirements, contracts, and performance expectations
  • Facilitate coordination across providers, state partners, and RIH focus areas
  • Support escalation and resolution of high-level programmatic challenges

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Oversee collection and review of mobile dentistry performance data
  • Track key metrics including service volume, geographic reach, and patient access
  • Develop reports and summaries to support program monitoring and decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with RIH and funding-related reporting requirements

Program Deployment & Improvement

  • Align mobile deployment with areas of highest need in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Promote consistency and standardization across service providers
  • Identify opportunities to improve program effectiveness and access
  • Recommend data-driven adjustments to program strategy
Skill Set Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare operations, oral health program management, or program oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, multi-stakeholder initiatives, including facilitating alignment across non-profit partners and dental providers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and stakeholder communications
  • Strong data management and reporting skills, including compiling performance metrics and supporting compliance requirements
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience in mobile health, dental programs, or rural health initiatives
  • Knowledge of dental reimbursement models, billing workflows, or value-based care strategies
  • Familiarity with Kentucky’s public health ecosystem and rural community needs
Education/Certification(s)/License(s):
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, dental hygiene, health informatics, or a related field
  • Preferred, now required:
    Advanced degree in public health, health administration, health informatics, or related field
