Holds a valid Kentucky certificate for School Psychologist

Holds a Master's Degree in Psychology

Has experience in diagnosing, evaluating and counseling

Has demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, and community

Job Goal:
To fulfill federal mandates and state regulations as related to the identification, evaluation, and placement of exceptional children.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices
• Administer tests and recommends placement for exceptional children
• Help identify, within the school, all types of exceptional children
• Maintain case records on all referred students
• Recommend corrective procedures
• Conduct individual, group or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavioral intervention
• Confer with parents and teachers, when necessary
• Attend case conferences on placement of individual students
• Serve as a consultant on mental health topic
• Interpret the school psychological services to parents and teachers
• Prepare and submit required reports on children in, or candidates for, special education programs
• Cooperate with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies
• Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings
• Assist with in-service training of school personnel
• Identify educational and mental health related needs within the school community and suggest ways in which to meet those needs
• Keep informed of new developments within the field
• Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
