At the Kentucky Department of Corrections, the Division of Education plays a crucial role supporting the department and the reentry of offenders back into the community. The mission of the Division of Education is to prepare every offender through the advancement of academic achievement and work ready skills for successful reentry.
As education corrections professionals, it is our job to assist in the rehabilitation and reentry of offenders by working within the department, with community partners, and state agencies to increase community safety and reduce recidivism rates. The administrative branch manager will primarily support planning, facilitating, and coordinating postsecondary educational opportunities to offenders within the correctional environment.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement postsecondary education programs by collaborating with educational institutions to offer accredited courses and pathways that meet the educational and rehabilitative needs of inmates.
- Foster relationships with colleges, universities, and vocational schools.
- Promote awareness of the programs to stakeholders.
- Supervise and assist employees, while being responsible for their performance evaluations.
- Lead and manage special projects aimed at improving educational outcomes.
- Initiate and oversee new educational programs and pilot projects.
- Explore and integrate innovative teaching methods and technologies.
- Collaborate to identify and apply for grants and funding opportunities.
- Establish metrics for program success and conduct regular evaluations to gather data to support the efficiency of implemented programs.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to improve program quality.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Five years of professional administrative experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for
EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
