Safety, Environmental, and Health Coordinator

Full Time Frankfort, KY, US

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $60,000.00 Annually

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager for Safety, Environmental and Health, the S.E.H coordinator position is responsible for assisting in the overall Safety, Environmental and Health management systems for TOPY America. This position is based in Frankfort, Kentucky, however; the coordinator is responsible for supporting Safety, Environmental and Health improvements and compliance for operations/facilities in Frankfort, KY, Chicago, Nashville, and Salt Lake City.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 1.Analyze all facilities compliance and monitor/maintain/complete necessary documentation.
  • 2.Assist in the development of plant programs to promote and maintain the safety, environmental and health programs.
  • 3.Devise methods of Safety Training programs that elevate Safety consciousness and awareness for all Associates and Staff.
  • 4.Implement and measure the effectiveness of these programs for continuous improvement.
  • 5.Assist in the supervision and monitoring the activities of the Waste Water Department and Staff.
  • 6.Assist in efforts to maximize plant utility conservation.
  • 7.Analyze all new equipment and systems to understand their impact on Safety and verify/approve for operation.
  • 8.Communicate with associates, physicians and insurance carriers regarding Workers Compensation issues.
  • 9.Certify Associate’s use of forklifts and cranes.
  • 10.Analyze present and future PPE requirements and needs of the Company.
  • 11.Monitor utility usage, including water, gas and electric.
  • 12.Assists in monitoring the corporate Hazardous Waste Management program under the guidance of the S.E.H. Manager.
  • 13.Other job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • 1.Knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements and the ability to interact with these agencies.
  • 3.Experience with testing of personnel regarding required OSHA and other compliance requirements. Ability to cultivate goodwill and use diplomacy, teamwork, and effective interaction skills to promote improvement and buy-in for Safety and Environmental programs both internally and externally.
  • 4.Preferred:
    Experience operating a waste water treatment facility or knowledge of chemicals or additives. Waste Treatment Operator’s License.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position does not have any direct reports.

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions both indoors and outdoors
  • Frequently exposed to hot, wet, and/or humid conditions
  • Often exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Routinely exposed to oil and other petroleum products.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, and use hands and fingers.
  • Handle or feel objects
  • Regularly required to twist, bend, or stretch at the hips, waist, shoulders, back, and neck.
  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to reach above and below shoulder height with hands and arms.
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Frequently communicate with operators/team members safely.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

This position does not travel.

EDUCATION
  • 1.Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or related field
  • OR
  • 2. 3- 5 years’ experience in the Safety & Environmental functions/aspects in a manufacturing facility
