Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer / Rotating Equipment Field Engineer
Cordant, a part of Baker Hughes, provides integrated software, services, and Bently Nevada condition‑monitoring hardware to support asset reliability across pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance shutdowns in Oil & Gas, chemical, power generation, and other process industries.
Position OverviewAs a Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer, you will provide customers with end‑to‑end service solutions for their rotating machinery assets, protection and monitoring systems. Key solutions include evaluating machinery condition through rotor‑dynamic analysis.
Responsibilities- Diagnose machinery problems using vibration data, operational data, and customer communications.
- Travel to customer sites to provide supporting service.
- Produce timely reports that identify findings and provide recommendations to the customer.
- Build relationships with customers to deliver high‑level service and act as a trusted advisor for rotating equipment health.
- Calculate and oversee placement of balance weights.
- Apply Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering a plus).
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience.
- Availability for extensive travel (up to 70%) and significant overtime (paid).
- Valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain one).
- Eligibility to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
- Eligibility to travel overseas and/or work on offshore platforms on occasion.
- Knowledge of reliability services.
- ISO certification for vibration analysis.
- Strong interpersonal authority and assurance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel.
- Experience working under stressful conditions.
- Project management skills.
- Solid computer skills using MS Office.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills (hands‑on approach).
- Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical prints.
- Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and control systems.
- Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems.
- Experience with mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotodynamic analysis, PdM data acquisition/evaluation, machinery balancing and alignment.
- Familiarity with Bently Nevada products and Cordant services.
- Basic knowledge of computer network systems.
