By joining the Division of Waste Management as a Geologist-Registered in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to assist the public by overseeing and carrying out the investigation, characterization, and cleanup of Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) Superfund sites and a broad variety of other contaminated sites and properties.
- Review corrective action and closure permits for Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) Superfund sites.
- Perform technical review of site characterization and corrective action reports for releases at permitted CCR Superfund sites and for a variety of other releases of hazardous substances, pollutants and contaminants, often involving complex geologic and hydrogeologic settings.
- Perform site inspections, site investigations, and environmental assessments involving the sampling of soil, groundwater, soil gas, and surface water.
- Review Brownfield Redevelopment applications, environmental assessments, and management plans.
- Provide technical assistance to the public and other government agencies.
- The ability to review and analyze complex scientific and geologic information.
- Excellent planning, time management, and organization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Driver's license
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in office and field conditions.
- Be exposed to dangerous work conditions and rough terrain.
