This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. Responsibilities- Provides oversight and direction to staff for budget development; analyzes compiles, approves, and executes agency budget requests and submits final recommendation to the Office of the State Budget Director for final approval.
- Serves as a budget specialist to the agency and the Office of State Budget Director. Develops/compiles and executes budget requests for biennial budget process and yearly management budgets of 81 budget units. Requests budget documents in budgeting system such as allotment shifts and appropriation increases. Establishes fund, appropriation, and allotments.
- Provides budgetary oversight, technical assistance, and approvals for agency expenditures for Fiscal Managers, Fiscal Branch Staff, and Management, and other staff for 81 budget units. Reviews, audits, and approves payments in eMars. Receives invoices, audits for accuracy, and makes assigned payments.
- Performs on-going budget preparation, implementation, analysis, monitoring, and evaluation of budgetary issues for approximately 81 budget units and agency programs.
- Performs on-going budget analysis by analyzing agency needs and developing budgetary projections and special projects.
- Completes federal, state, or agency-mandated reports, request for information, projections, policy review, special projects, and the fiscal close out package. Develops and/or reviews departmental fiscal policies and procedures.
- Attends meetings and trainings as required.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Three years of professional experience in budget administration, financial analysis and/or forecasting, statistical analysis, accounting, financial auditing, or a related field.
