The Mortgage Loan Manager leads the mortgage department, ensuring efficient, compliant, and member-focused lending operations. This role provides strategic direction, oversees loan origination and processing, and ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies. They develop and implement procedures to improve workflow and service quality, while mentoring staff and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Mortgage Loan Manager also represents the department in internal committees and community initiatives, contributing to organizational visibility and engagement. Through strong leadership and industry expertise, they ensure departmental goals are met and exceptional value is delivered to members.

The duties and responsibilities of a Mortgage Loan Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading with integrity and clarity, setting expectations and motivating the mortgage team to perform at a high level.
  • Supporting staff development through coaching and feedback, while fostering a collaborative, member-focused culture.
  • Demonstrating sound judgement, accountability, and attention to detail in identifying and resolving issues, overseeing loan reporting, and analyzing departmental performance.
  • Reviewing monthly loan reports for accuracy, timeliness, alignment with organizational goals, and compliance standards.
  • Interpreting data, member needs, operational impacts, trends, risks, and opportunities to make informed, timely decisions that support compliance, efficiency, member satisfaction, loan performance, and growth.
  • Anticipating potential challenges, developing practical solutions, and communicating key takeaways to leadership and relevant departments to ensure transparency and alignment across the organization.
  • Effectively conveying goals, expectations, and feedback to the mortgage team, ensuring alignment and understanding.
  • Promoting a culture of accountability and integrity by reinforcing policy adherence across the mortgage lending team.
  • Collaborating with compliance and leadership teams to ensure transparency and mitigate risk.
  • Enhancing expertise by actively pursuing development opportunities, including but not limited to attending conferences, acquiring certifications, completing learning courses internally and through other relevant platforms, or engaging in both internal and external leadership programs.
Required Qualifications
  • High School or GED or better.
  • NMLS registration.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance and secondary market.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent applicable experience.
